Delegates to the 33rd annual legislative session of the Silver Haired Legislature met in Jefferson City to choose five priority bills to be presented to the Missouri Legislature in mid-January.

The delegates debated and voted on 20 proposals during the three day session at the Truman Hotel and Conference Center and the House and Senate Chambers of the Capitol.

Silver Haired Legislature priorities included single points of entry for Missouri long-term care services, payday loans, funding for all meals, raising the asset level for individuals on Medicaid and increasing the monthly stipend for individuals on Medicaid in nursing homes.

Delegates from the Southeast area were Loretta Schneider of Cape Girardeau; Marge Elam, Lorene Thomason, Marie Ida Atherton, all of Dexter; Loyd Matthews of Poplar Bluff; Doris Ropelle of Farmington; Paula Polen of Malden; Jane McKeel of Kennett; Pansy Slinkard of Fredericktown; Katherine Findlay of Poplar Bluff; Janie Lamar of Gibson, Ann Simpson of Van Buren; June Majors of East Prairie; and Judith Elmore, Betty Derby, both of Campbell.
