Paul Edward Blattner, 82, of Gordonville died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 29, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, son of Charles Frederick and Helen Kies Blattner. He and Marion E. Hager were married May 18, 1946, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

Mr. Blattner served in the Army Air Corps from March 2, 1943, to Nov. 21, 1945, during World War II in the African and European theaters. He was a member of VFW Post 3838.

He worked 37 years at Sunny Hill Dairy, retiring in 1983.

He was formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, and currently a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville where he was active as a volunteer.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of Gordonville; two sons, David (Noretta) Blattner of Jackson, Ty Blattner of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Charlotte (Ed) Ellington of Columbus, Ohio, Emily Limbaugh of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Charles F. Blattner of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Jean Henry of St. Louis, Barbara Schaffner of Cape Girardeau; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville Monday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Gary Hoffstetter officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honors Team.

Memorials may be made to Saxony Lutheran High School or Christ Lutheran Church.
