Van de Ven given service Award
Melvin Van de Ven was awarded the Distinguished Service Award at the 111th Annual Missouri Association of Mutual Insurance Cos. Convention in Columbia, Mo. In the history of the MAMIC organization, a "Distinguish Service Award" was never previously given to anyone not directly related with the day-to-day operation of an insurance office. Their departure from their standard presentation in giving the award to Van de Ven was in recognition of his service to their association and to their member companies over the last 40 years. Melvin Van de Ven is the manager of Van de Ven, LLC, Certified Public Accountants and Advisors in Cape Girardeau.
Local realtors earn GRI designations
James Cox and Michelle Doughten have been awarded the Graduate, REALTOR Institute (GRI) Designation by the Missouri Association of REALTORS. James and Michelle received this honor after successfully completing 90 hours of specific education outlined by the National Association of Realtors. The Missouri REALTOR Institute, which is offered through the Missouri Association of REALTORS, provides training in real estate practice, which results in increased professionalism and enhanced business success. By taking courses offered by the Institute, a realtor becomes a more competent professional, rendering broader and more effective service to the public, and elevates the standards of the real estate industry. James Cox and Michelle Doughten are associated with REALTY EXECUTIVES of Cape County.
Sattler joins Workforce Investment Board
Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri has announced that Scott Sattler has joined its staff. Sattler will provide his extensive expertise in workforce development and business networking to the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri. Sattler previously served as supervisor with the Division of Workforce Development where he monitored and insured compliance of programs to include: Career Assistance Program, Worker Profiling, Trade Act, Veterans, and Missouri Employment Training Program. Scott has helped individuals and organizations around the region, in both the public and private sectors, to gain skills and knowledge in today's competitive work environments. He has served on many regional and statewide workgroups devoted to business, marketing and training. Sattler's expertise includes leadership, workforce development, customer service, communication, teambuilding and meeting facilitation. He is certified as a Missouri Workforce Development Professionals (MWDP).
