Glenn House begins offering holiday tours

Glenn House holiday tours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. beginning Sunday and continue at the same time on Saturdays and Sundays throughout December. Sponsored by the Historical Association of Greater Cape Girardeau Inc., special events include a candlelit tour from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and a New Year's Day tour from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments and entertainment by Pair-A-Docks and Jerelyn Horowitz will be at the Carriage House (behind the Glenn House) on Sunday and Dec. 16. Local florists have adopted and decorated each room. Advance tickets are available by calling Donna Grantham at 335-4590 or at Shivelbine's Music, Ye Olde Log Cabin, Arrangements by Joyce, Bloomin' Balloons and Flowers, Francine's Flowers, Knaup Floral and Magnolia Market. Special tours to groups of 10 or more are available by calling Polly Cotner at 335-8533.

Modern Woodmen hold monthly dinners

All Modern Woodmen members are invited to attend the monthly camp 4902 dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at Frontier at Fruitland, 5841 U.S. 61, Jackson. The Nov. 29 camp 8116 dinner will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Ponderosa, 1301 S. Perryville Blvd., Perryville, Mo. There will be a door prize. Red House lists events scheduled for December

The Red House Interpretive Center will participate in Downtown Open House, sponsored by Old Town Cape, from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 1 in historic downtown Cape Girardeau. The following day, Dec. 2, is the final Saturday opening at the Red House until the spring. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Docents will be welcoming visitors and giving tours in period costume.

Concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity

Restless Spirit will appear at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at New McKendree South Campus, 1770 South Hope St. in Jackson for a concert to benefit Habitat for Humanity. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Light snacks, refreshments and child care will be provided. For more information, call (573) 275-8611.

Egyptian School presents second annual madrigal

The Egyptian High School Music Department will present its second annual madrigal at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 and 2 p.m. Dec. 17 in the cafeteria. The madrigal includes a medieval celebration of the birth of Christ, a feast, a concert and medieval play. The Saturday evening performance will feature a complete dinner. The Sunday afternoon performance will include wassail, dessert and coffee. Contact the school office at 776-5251 for more information on purchasing tickets.

Rotary Club donates to American Cancer Society

The Cape Girardeau Weset Rotary Club recently donated $500 to the American Cancer Society to help cancer mastectomy patients.
