  • Gingerbread house construction will be held for adults at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Hirsch Community Room. Registration and a fee are required by Nov. 26. Bring a bag of candy to share. The library will provide all other supplies. Register at www.capelibrary.org or call 334-5279.
  • Great Books 2006 will discuss "Faith and Politics" by former U.S. Sen. John Danforth from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Hirsch Community Room. The series is co-sponsored by the library and Southheast Missouri State University's Center for Regional History.

The Cape Girardeau Public Library will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
