~ St. Louis beat Detroit for just the third timein the last 16 meetings between the teams.

DETROIT -- Martin Rucinsky and Doug Weight scored in the shootout to give the St. Louis Blues a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Friday night.

St. Louis goalie Manny Legace stopped Jason Williams on his attempt and Pavel Datsyuk hit the goal post.

Petr Cajanek scored twice for St. Louis, who beat Detroit for only the third time in their last 16 games, and Dallas Drake added two assists. Legace stopped 41 shots in his first game back at Joe Louis Arena after playing with Detroit for seven seasons. He signed with the Blues as a free agent during the offseason.

Rucinsky beat Dominik Hasek with a wrist shot, and Weight put a backhander in off of Hasek.

Detroit defenseman Chris Chelios passed Phil Housley to become the leader in games played by American-born players in NHL history with 1,496.
