Cape Girardeau police are investigating an alleged armed robbery that occurred at 6:27 p.m. Monday.

A masked man allegedly robbed a 29-year-old Cape Girardeau woman at gunpoint in the parking lot of the strip mall where she works at Premier Cash Advance at 235 S. Broadview St., according to police spokesman Jason Selzer.

Selzer said the suspect reportedly hid in the back seat of the victim's unlocked car before she got into the vehicle with the company's cash bag at about 6:20 p.m.

The victim told police that as she drove away from her parking space, the man grabbed her shoulder from behind, put a semi-automatic hand gun against her head and demanded she give the cash bag to him.

She did so after her car collided with a box truck in the parking lot, Selzer said.

The suspect then took off on foot heading west, she told police.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned 6-foot, 5-inch black man with a medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black shirt with tan pockets and black gloves and pants.

Selzer said there were no witnesses and police had no suspects as of Tuesday afternoon. The amount of cash in the bag was not disclosed.
