Mark Thompson, a 1991 graduate of Central High School, son of William and Mary Thompson, was promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Army. Thompson was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Military Intelligence Corps in 1996 from Vanderbilt University's Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in Nashville, Tenn. He currently serves in the Army's Military Police Corps. He was promoted to major in June and currently resides in Louisville, Ky. Thompson earned a bachelor of science degree in Criminal Justice from Tennessee State University in Nashville in 1996 and a master's of science degree in public administration from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, Mich., in 1999. In October 2003, Thompson was selected to attend the FBI's (Special Agent) Academy in Quantico, Va. Thompson is the husband of the former Petrina M. Payne of Detroit and father of Kristopher, age 8.
