Chester tied the score in the final 10 seconds at 41-41, but the Pirates were able to hit a jumper with 3.1 seconds remaining and added two free throws to ice the win. Perryville improved to 4-2.

Rick Dunn led the Pirates with 15 points and Brent Roth added 11.

In other action at the Hoopfest, Central fell to 3-5 with a 61-38 loss to Lafayette. The Tigers trailed 27-25 at the half before falling apart after the break.

George Hamilton and Kerry Walker had 10 points apiece in the opening half, but finished with just 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Lafayette sophomore Tyler Griffey, a nationally-ranked 6-foot-9 forward, finished with 20 points.

The first two games of the Hoopfest produced a pair of lopsided results. St. Vincent routed Meadow Heights 64-37 thanks to a comfortable 30-8 first-half lead.

Greg Finger led the Indians with 20 points, and Zach Richardet and Chris Fischer had eight apiece.

Tyler Wagner led the Panthers with 14 points.

Saxony Lutheran routed Chris Our Savior Lutheran 73-29 in the opening game of the eight-game slate. Ben Courtois led the Crusaders with 18 points, Clay Obergoenner had 13 and Alex Jauch had 11.

Webster Groves, ranked No. 2 in the Post Dispatch large schools poll, edged Charleston 59-54 in one of the nightcaps.
