Cape Girardeau police are looking for two men suspected in an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday at Hometown Cash Advance, 1131 N. Kingshighway.

Cpl. Jason Selzer said an employee told police two men came into the store at 5:47 p.m., brandished a black handgun and demanded cash from the register.

The employee put the cash into a duffle-type bag, Selzer said, before the two men walked him to the back of the store and threw him on the floor of a closet, telling him to stay there before they left.

The employee was not hurt in the incident, Selzer said.

The store's district manager, David Fought, said this is the first time the store has been robbed in the two years since it opened at the Kingshighway location. "We're always careful," he said.

Fought declined to disclose the amount of cash taken during the robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call the Cape Girardeau Police Department's CrimeStoppers line at 332-0500 or the police department's main telephone number at 335-6621.
