~ The 10th-seeded Hawks will meet eighth-seeded Central this afternoon.

Kelly needed a rally in the fourth period to defeat Woodland in a consolation bracket semifinal game Friday at the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament.

The 10th-seeded Hawks got the scoring spree they needed to post a 71-64 victory against the 14th-seeded Cardinals.

Tyler Thurman nailed eight 3-pointers for Kelly on his way to a game-high 28 points. He was 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final minute to help the Hawks preserve the win.

Kelly earned a spot opposite Central in today's 3 p.m. consolation bracket final.

Woodland led by four points at halftime and by one headling into the final period.

The Cardinals hit 12 3-pointers, with four coming from senior Seth Gaines, who finished with 23 points.

Chad Gaines, a sophomore, added 13 points for Woodland.

For Kelly, Dallas Tew added 16 points and Spencer Ayers scored 15.

Central 65, Chaffee 28

The Tigers, who had gotten off to a slow start in a consolation bracket victory Wednesday against 16th-seeded Oak Ridge, came out fast Friday against Chaffee in a consolation semifinal.

The eighth-seeded Tigers built a 19-9 lead by the end of the first period and stretched it to 38-17 by halftime.

Central had six first half 3-pointers -- three apiece from Jajuan Bell and Kerry Walker.

The Tigers had nine 3-pointers on the day.

Bell scored 16 points to lead Central while Walker added 15. George Hamilton, Mondo Colon and Landon Evers contributed eight points each.

Andy Hendrix scored 10 points to lead Chaffee.
