Starting Monday morning, Broadway will be closed to traffic from West End Boulevard to Perry Avenue for about 50 days.

The closure is the first phase of a two-phase program to widen Broadway by 12 feet and add turn lanes at its intersection with Clark Avenue.

During the closure, a special detour route for emergency vehicles will be available leading to the Emergency Room entrance of Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Fronabarger Concreters Inc. has the $1,426,668.36 contract for the project.

The second phase will last 90 days and widen Broadway from West End Boulevard to Houck Place. It will also add the new left-turn only lanes at Clark Avenue.
