Central, Jackson and Notre Dame all opened their boys soccer seasons with victories Thursday at the Notre Dame Soccerfest.

Central and Jackson both won in shutouts, while Notre Dame, the reigning Class 1 state champion, debuted with a double-overtime victory.

Blake Urhahn lifted the defending Class 1 state champions to their first victory of the season with a goal in the second overtime as the Bulldogs defeated Marion (Ill.) 4-3.

The Bulldogs had a 3-1 lead at halftime, but Marion's Bart Orso scored two goals in a five-minutes span to send the game into overtime.

"It's a good thing for a young team to face a little adversity and still come out on the positive side," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said. "It could be a good learning experience for us."

Jonathan Market was involved in every scoring play for Notre Dame: He had one goal and three assists. Urhahn finished with two goals, and Dee Goodin also scored. Tim Frank recorded an assist.

Orso finished with a hat trick for Marion (1-1).

Central goalkeeper Tony Leuckel made three saves and was credited with the shutout.
