Drunken driver gets 10-year prison term
OTTAWA, Ill. -- A drunken driver who fatally struck a road construction flagman in May has agreed to a 10-year prison sentence in a plea agreement with prosecutors. Douglas V. Black, of Streator, Ill., was driving on Illinois 23 on the morning of May 22 when he struck John R. Crozier Jr., 40, also of Streator. Black, 26, was sentenced Friday, one day after he agreed to plead guilty to charges of aggravated reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence.
"I'm very sorry and feel terrible for everybody who suffered in this," Black told LaSalle County Circuit Court Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr.
