Jackson Senior Center shows appreciation

A thriving senior center is the result of the generous support Procter & Gamble has provided since expansion plans began in 2005 for a new location. In addition to the generous donation P&G made to the building fund, Dave Crites, a P&G retiree, led and assisted the Jackson Senior Center board to secure funding assistance through P&G's fund program. The building was open for business in August.

Appreciation plaques were recently presented to Procter & Gamble's family care plant manager Bill Barkley, baby care plant manager Rick McLeod and human resources manager Mike Jennewein.

The Jackson Senior Center provides an average of 250 daily midday meals for homebound individuals (through Meals on Wheels delivery) and those who come to the center.

"With the new building we're able to serve 30 percent more seniors, offer more health screenings, make computers with Internet connections available and offer dances once or twice a month," said Jean Mason, assistant administrator at the center.

Administrator Debbie Stockton said, "Having a comfortable, friendly place to sit and talk with others provides a wonderful resource for the seniors in our community. We are planning to continue to expand our services to more seniors in the community and to provide more types of services. We are so thankful to P&G for their generous support of our center."
