Brian Whitehead of Cape Girardeau was the first runner across the finish line in the Run for a Child 10-kilometer race on Saturday morning. Whitehead finished in 35 minutes, 6 seconds. Brian Whitehead of Cape Girardeau was the first runner across the finish line in the Run for a Child 10-kilometer race on Saturday morning.

Whitehead finished in 35 minutes, 6 seconds. Glen Stellhorn of Cape Girardeau was second in 37:08.

The run also is known as the CASA run because it is sponsored by the Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children as well as Southeast Missouri Hospital.

The event included a 5K, which was won by Jared Tanz in 18:23.

Women's division winners were Cape Girardeau resident Adela Sams, who won the 10K in 47:44; and former Southeast Missouri State distance runner Kaci Pilcher, who won the 5K in 21:34.
