Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with Pastor Dan Ridnouer of the Lacey United Methodist Church officiating. NEW SHARON, Iowa -- Maxine Robinson, age 91, of New Sharon, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003 at the Georgian Court in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with Pastor Dan Ridnouer of the Lacey United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

Visiting hours will begin after 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening. Memorials may be made to the Lacey United Methodist Church.

Pearl Maxine Bunting Robinson was born on Sept. 19, 1911, west of Lacey, Iowa, to Alfred and Clara Long Bunting. A 1929 graduate of Lacey High School, she attended William Penn College for two summers to obtain her teaching certificate.

She taught in rural schools during 1931 and 1932 and was united in marriage to Warren Robinson on Oct. 5, 1933 in Mahaska County, Iowa. Maxine received her life teaching certificate from William Penn College in 1950 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Drake University in 1963.

She received her special education endorsement 35 from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and continued to teach in area rural schools Cedar Consolidated, New Sharon and Lacey. She taught special education in Sigourney, Iowa, from 1968 to 1978 when she retired.

Maxine was active in 4-H work as a youngster and later as a leader. She moved to New Sharon in 1995 and to Oskaloosa in 2000. She was an active member of the Lacey United Methodist Church, U.M.W. and the 50 Plus Club of New Sharon. Maxine was a homemaker, valuable helper, nurturing mother and friend and faithful wife.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands; Donna and John Nicholson of Oskaloosa and Joan and Ray Haring of Cape Girardeau; a son and his wife, Roger and Vivian Robinson of New Sharon; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Aleta Kiefer of Altoona, Iowa, and a brother-in-law, Homer Johannes of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren, on July 20, 1995; two sisters, Glenna Johannes and Lucille Barth; and a brother, Vernon Bunting.
