ORAN, Mo. -- William J. Dempsey, 58, of Oran died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 19, 1948, in St. Louis, son of William Robert and Irene Eisle Baker Dempsey.

Dempsey was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Morley VFW Post 5368.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Dempsey of Fairview Heights, Ill., Todd Dempsey of Belleville, Ill.; two daughters, Sarah Poulter of Charleston, Ill., April Sanders of Douglasville, Ga.; a sister, Janis Haas of Coulterville, Ill.; a stepsister, Jerry Kempfer of Tilden, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. Full military rites will be provided by Missouri Military Honor Guard.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
