DESOTO, Mo. -- Lester F. Deaton, 84, of DeSoto died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home. He was born May 30, 1922, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Houston and Harriett Pennell Deaton. DESOTO, Mo. -- Lester F. Deaton, 84, of DeSoto died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his home.

He was born May 30, 1922, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of Houston and Harriett Pennell Deaton. He married the former Bernice Rice.

Deaton was a retired railroad track foreman. He was a member of First Baptist Church in DeSoto and Poplar Bluff Lodge 209 AF&AM.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Larry (Frances) Deaton of Blackwell, Mo., Donald (Liz) Deaton of Kirkwood, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Edward Deaton; three sisters, Jewell Stucker, Marjorie Daughhetee and Martha Deaton.

The funeral was held Wednesday at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in DeSoto. The Rev. Jeremy Muniz officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery at DeSoto.
