Lurena Maintz, 78, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 16, 1929, at Kurreville, Mo., daughter of Frank and Iva Dell Statler Niswonger. She and Hoover Dempsey Maintz were married Nov. 22, 1947. He died Jan. 24, 1981.

Maintz was a 1947 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She had worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill, was an assistant to Dr. T.D. Wills at Fruitland Livestock Auction, and worked with the Visiting Nurse Association in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Old Salem United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ruesler of Oak Ridge, Kathy Mills of St. Louis County; a brother, Donald R. Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Della Clippard and Marie Vinyard of Jackson; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery.
