Over the past few months new digital outdoor advertisement displays have come to Southeast Missouri. Sign companies like Canedy Sign & Graphics in Sikeston and Drury Southwest Signs in Cape Girardeau are replacing traditional signs with RGB billboards, where colorful digital images can be frequently updated.

Businesses such as Cozmo's Espresso Gelato & Deli and Realty Executives, both on Independence Street, are trying out the new technology. The business owners said they like the convenience of the signs because the advertisements are more visible and they can change frequently without much work.

Cape Girardeau's director of inspection services Tim Morgan is looking into the RGB billboards to make sure they are not overly distracting to drivers. Since the technology is new to the area, the city doesn't have detailed regulations on RGB billboards yet.
