The accident occurred about 8:30 p.m. Police at the scene released few details, confirming only that a small child was hit by a car. Police did not release the name or age of the victim or the name of the driver. Several onlookers at the scene said they didn't see the accident or didn't wish to talk to the media.

Police said there was no way to tell what speed the car was going when it hit the child and didn't give information on the severity of the child's injuries. The child was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver was allowed to leave the scene after talking with police, and police on the scene didn't say whether any summonses would be issued to the driver.
