Amazing men

THE DEMOCRATIC candidates running for presidents never fail to amaze me. They are blaming Bush for all these jobs being lost. I would like to ask these people, what administration was it that signed the NAFTA deal? If I'm not mistaken, it was the Clinton administration. Ross Perot stated, "you will hear a sucking sound," and that's what it's doing. In the news today, it said that 96 percent of the clothing was made overseas. I am not crazy about George Bush, but don't blame him for the job losses.

Here's the answer

I AM calling about the woman who asked when the school district will do something about the intellectually gifted students instead of making them sit with the masses and lower their abilities. Well, I have the answer, because I have a gifted student. Every district in this area has advanced classes. They are called something different in each district. In Cape, they are called academic classes, and in Jackson, they are called advanced classes. There are also advanced placement classes for the academically gifted child. Your child has a lot of opportunity if they are truly an academically gifted student. If your child is not in these classes, then maybe they don't qualify.

Keep it there

THE CITY of Jackson is changing enough without taking its traditional Homecomers away from its traditional area. Aren't business hurt from the snow and ice in the winter? No way to change that. Let the celebration of Homecomers remain a tradition.

About Clark

ABOUT THESE Republicans saying that Clark flip-flopped on who he was for and who he wasn't for. You know, everyone has a right to change his mind, and maybe he saw a light. There was a time that I thought that Nixon would have been a good president, but I realized what a fool he was, and it would be terrible to elect him again. If I am not mistaken, they said Roosevelt changed his mind often. If a man changes his mind, that's good. I wish people would have changed their mind in this last election.

Change the dates

I WENT to the City of Roses Music Festival this year. It was cold and rainy. You would think that the organizers would move the festival to the middle of August. We have a conflict if they want to bring in more people, because we are losing people to Paducah's barbecue fest at the end of September. Homecomers should be moved to the second week of July, because I have heard for years people complain how school started and they can not take their children. There is not very much to do in July anyway.

Stop complaining

THE ONE who is complaining about the woman judge is probably someone who wanted the job or wanted their spouse to have the job. I think they should stop complaining. We have a judge, and we should move on.

Help themselves

I AM calling about the Salvation Army in other cities starting to charge families $5 a night after they have been in the shelter for more than a week. I think this should work, because some people are nothing but leeches. They need help, but they also need to know how to help themselves. Many don't help themselves, and it is against their lifestyles.

No on Clark

I CALLED to find out why Clark wants to be president of the United states. He has five corporations in his pocket and is rolling in wealth. He does not need the job. All he knows is his job in the military and his work at NATO.

Try Ludacris

The Show Me Center is making progress in its choice of bands. However, it still needs to make a quantum leap forward and could do so by booking Fifty Cent and Ludacris.

It's worth it

I AM a senior citizen who spends a lot of money on medications. I am not wealthy, but I think they are worth every cent I pay. If the companies had not developed these, then I would not have been here today. That's why I get upset when politicians do the politically popular thing of bashing the drug companies. The drug costs the company $800 million on research and development. How do these politicians expect them to keep in business? It is the profit motive that has kept them innovative and me alive.
