A child who was struck by a car Sunday night near the intersection of Fountain Street and Pearl Street received what appeared to police at the scene to be only minor injuries.

Police will not release the identity of the victim, but said the child was a 6-year-old. The child was hit by a 1980 Oldsmobile driven by a 55-year-old white female who police also wouldn't identify. Selzer said police reports of the incident indicate the child was pushing his bicycle across the road when the car hit the bicycle, spinning the child around and causing him to fall on the street and hit his head.

The driver was not issued a summons for the accident, and Selzer said she indicated she didn't see the child.
