ANNA, Ill. -- Delbert D. Lingle, 90, of Anna died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Dongola, Ill., the son of Charles and Eva McIntosh Lingle. He married Violet Sheffer on Feb. 8, 1933. She survives...

ANNA, Ill. -- Delbert D. Lingle, 90, of Anna died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Dongola, Ill., the son of Charles and Eva McIntosh Lingle. He married Violet Sheffer on Feb. 8, 1933. She survives.

He worked as a machine operator for the Caterpillar and E.L. Bruce companies. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.

He was a member of the Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.

He also is survived by a daughter, Marla McAdoo of Mounds, Ill.; two brothers, Doyle Lingle and Dorris Lingle, both of Dongola; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Sunday at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Bridges officiating.

Burial will be at the American Legion Cemetery with graveside military honors by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.
