Cape Junior Legionsweeps Perryville
The Cape Girardeau Plaza Tire Junior Legion baseball team swept Perryville in a pair of games Tuesday night,scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh in both games.
Cape won the opener 7-6, then rallied for a 4-3 victory in the second game.
In the first game, Cape outhit Perryville 12-4, but needed a sacrifice fly by Ryan Grigaitis in the seventh to push across the winning run.
Jake Pewitt recorded the win on the mound.
In the second game, Cape trailed 3-1 entering the bottom of the seventh but rallied with three runs. Blake Smith and Wesley Glaus had RBI singles in the inning. Zach Wilson picked up the win in relief. Glaus had three of Cape's eight hits.
Sample wins raceat Sikeston Drag Strip
Rob Sample of Scott City finished first Saturday in the Super Pro Class at the Sikeston Drag Strip.
Sample had a reaction time of .513 seconds, an elapsed time of 4.991 seconds and reached a top speed of 138 mph.
