The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a public meeting June 14 to inform motorists of upcoming changes to traffic on Interstate 55 because of construction work on a new interchange. The meeting will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Missouri Department of Conservation Nature Center at Cape Girardeau County Park North, said MoDOT project manager Andy Meyer. People can visit with MoDOT staff anytime during those hours, he said. Meyer said MoDOT staff will update progress on construction of the new East Main Street/LaSalle Avenue/I-55 interchange and how it will affect motorists. "We anticipate the interstate being reduced to one lane in each direction and traffic diverted to the northbound lanes by as early as June 18, weather permitting," Meyer said.
