Motorcyclist injured after collision with truck
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday morning when he was struck by a pickup truck near Fruitland. Timothy L. Stone, 47, of Cape Girardeau was traveling northbound on U.S. 61 about 6:40 a.m. when his Harley-Davidson was struck by a 2000 Ford pickup driven by Ashley L. Collier, 22, of Marble Hill, Mo., the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Collier was traveling eastbound on County Road 541 and was not injured, the patrol reported. Stone was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center. Collier's truck hit Stone when she turned into the path of the motorcycle, the patrol said. Citations for Collier were pending late Wednesday.
Oran woman injured in single-car accident
An Oran, Mo., woman suffered moderate injuries Wednesday when her car ran off a rural Scott County road, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported. Cherry L. Cole, 48, was driving northbound on County Road 261 about a half-mile north of Oran when the accident occurred about 2 a.m., the patrol said. Her car, a 2007 Chevrolet, was a total loss, according to the patrol, and Cole was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment.
