Lloyd Carlton, 86, of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born April 8, 1921, at Brownwood, Mo., son of Ora and Anna Mae Gibbs Carlton. He first married Juanita "Skeets" Johnson, who died in 1990. He and Gloria Gearing were married Sept. 9, 1999.
Carlton served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his loving wife; a son, Ronald "Ike" (Debbie) Carlton of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Mary Ann (Brian) Clarke of Columbia, S.C.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and a brother.
A celebration of life service will be held later in Pompano Beach.
A graveside service will also be held later at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel in Pembroke Pines, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
