Pledger wins women's national deadlift title

Lindsay Pledger of Cape Girardeau won a national title at the USAPL Deadlift Nationals in St. Louis this week.

Pledger, 18 and a senior at Central High School, lifted 314 pounds to take the teenage division title and capture the women's Best Lifter title.

Chad Holmes of Sikeston won the USAPL title in the 242-pound class with his record lift of 744 pounds. He was chosen the Open Best Lifter.

The two will compete in the Central USA Powerlifting and Benchpress Championships Nov. 11 in Cape Girardeau.

P&G, MedAssets take Corporate Games titles

Procter & Gamble Green and MedAssets won their divisions in the Corporate Games, an Olympic-style event sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department.

P&G Green won Division I ahead of P&G Blue, Rubbermaid and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. MedAssets won in Division II over YellowBook USA, Hutson Furniture Movers and Bob Evans Restaurant.
