A former Cape Girardeau resident wanted on Scott County charges of having sex with a child was arrested Monday in Jackson after allegedly fleeing from police.

Derek K. Kinder, 20, of Marquand, Mo., was speeding on Old Cape Road when he was stopped by Jackson police officer Anthony Henson, police said.

Kinder jumped from his vehicle and fled arrest, according to Henson's sworn statement. Kinder was found hiding behind a nearby parked sport utility vehicle.

Kinder gave officers a false name when asked for identification, but Henson found Kinder's wallet nearby and ran his information.

The dispatcher informed Henson of multiple warrants for Kinder's arrest, according to the sworn statement.

Kinder is charged with driving with a revoked license and resisting arrest by fleeing stemming from Monday's incident. He was wanted on Scott County warrants for probation violation and three counts of first-degree sodomy with a minor.

He is being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $5,000 bond for the most recent charges in addition to a $250,000 cash-only bond for the Scott County charges.
