BOYS' SOCCER

Central 1, Columbia Hickman 0

Central improved to 15-0 with a home victory.

Aaron Bornstein scored the game's only goal just six minutes in with an assist from Calen Wills. Tony Leuckel recorded the shutout.

"It was a good, hard-fought game," Central coach Tom Doyle said. "Both teams had good opportunities. They missed a wide-open goal, and we hit a couple of posts."

Central's JV (8-2-1) lost 1-0.

Springfield Glendale 2, Notre Dame 1

In a physical game the Bulldogs could not overcome a 2-0 halftime deficit and lost at home.

Glendale took advantage of a defender's slip and a misplay to put Notre Dame in an early hole.

"I thought we played decent for most of the half, but we misplayed a ball and they took advantage," Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn said.

Notre Dame (8-7-1) controlled much of the second half and cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Chris Meyer from Jonathan Market. The Bulldogs could not complete the comeback.

Notre Dame's JV (8-0-3) tied 0-0.
