Eight students from the area were selected to attend Girls State this summer. Chosen were Notre Dame Regional High School students Megan Hodges, Kelsey Gaines and Libby Buchheit, Cape Girardeau Central High School students Andrea Horrell, Laura Lusk and Heather Deisher; Sara Blattel of Delta High School; and Jennifer Miinch of Meadow Heights High School.

Hodges is the daughter of Linda and John Hodges. Gaines is the daughter of Andrew and Tammy Gaines. Buchheit is the daughter of Allen and Jeanette Buchheit. Horrell is the daughter of Scott and Karen Horrell. Lusk is the daughter of Lonnie and Debbie Lusk. Deisher is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Deisher. Blattel is the daughter of Bob and Carla Blattel. Miinch is the daughter of Steve and Patti Miinch.
