Nellie D. Hanschen, 86, of Scott City died on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at The Arbors of Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 12, 1917, at Fornfelt, Mo., daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Ruth Marie Clark Speak.
She and Richard George Hanschen were married May 24, 1941. He died April 18, 1983.
She was a schoolteacher at Illmo Elementary School from 1937 to 1941 and at St. Joseph Catholic School from 1971 to 1977.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Council of Catholic Women and was an organist at her church for 38 years.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Hanschen of Jefferson City, Mo., and Steve Hanschen of Dunlap, Tenn.; a daughter, Maria Hanschen of Charleston, Mo.; a sister, Mary Nicholson of Smyrna, Ga.; and three grandsons.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. A parish rosary will be at 6:30 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Coon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
