The public hearing on Cape Girardeau County's participation in tax incentives for renovating the old Sears building on William Street will be held at 10 a.m. today at the County Administration Building in Jackson. County commissioners decided to hold a public hearing after being briefed by Cape Girardeau city officials on the proposal to use a portion of county sales tax receipts to support the redevelopment of the building. The county is being asked to take half of the increase in general revenue sales tax receipts from businesses in Town Plaza to help Greater Missouri Builders pay off the debts incurred in updating the building for use as a call center and retail location.
