Jack D. Rushin, 68, of Jackson, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born June 25, 1935, in Harvell, Mo., son of Robert and Millie Rice Rushin. He married Marjorie West in 1956. He and Pat Auer Maloney were married April 21, 1979...

Jack D. Rushin, 68, of Jackson, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 25, 1935, in Harvell, Mo., son of Robert and Millie Rice Rushin. He married Marjorie West in 1956. He and Pat Auer Maloney were married April 21, 1979.

Jack was a 1953 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School. Active in sports, he attained All-Conference Football in 1952, held the school's shot-put record and was All-State High School in track shot-put. In 1954, he attended Ole Miss on a football scholarship.

He served in the U.S. Navy four years and then attended Southwest Missouri State University.

He worked for the Springfield Police Department, the Department of Justice in Denver, Colo., was a team manager for Proctor and Gamble of Cape Girardeau, and most recently owned and operated Professional Hearing Aid Center in uptown Jackson.

Jack was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his wife, Pat, of Jackson; two sons, Dr. Jack "Duke" Rushin, wife Teresa, and children, Richard Jack "R.J." and Shelby of Poplar Bluff; Richard Rushin, wife Debby, and children, Rachael, Jill, Ben and Jackson of Jackson; three daughters, Kathy Bierman, husband Doug, and daughter Lacy of Seymour, Ind.; Stephanie Jackson, husband Steve, and children, Elizabeth, Emily, and Alex of Rolla, Mo.; Kim Baker, husband Mark, and children Austin, Tori, and Ryan of Jackson.

Also surviving are five siblings, Kathern Marie Riley of Poplar Bluff, Robert Richard "Bud" Rushin of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., Paul Ray Rushin of Chillicothe, Ill., AnnaMae Elaine Knuckles of Poplar Bluff, and Kenneth Joe Rushin of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Delilah; his parents; and four siblings, Alta Mildred Chance, Virgil Benjamin Rushin, Bill Donald Rushin and Ralph Allen Rushin.

Friends may call today between 4-8 p.m. at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
