SIKESTON, Mo. -- Everett Anthony "Candy Man" Gentry, 77, of Sikeston died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Everett Anthony "Candy Man" Gentry, 77, of Sikeston died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born June 21, 1926, in Mound City, Ill., son of Everett A. and Geneva Lewis Gentry Sr. He and Mary Allene Barnwell were married Sept. 27, 1943, at Charleston, Mo.

Gentry was a warehouse worker 30 years at Procter & Gamble in Kansas City, Kan. He moved here in 1988 from Kansas City. He was a member of Gospel Assembly Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy and Air Force during World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth Gentry of Odessa, Mo.; a brother, Charles Gentry of Deepwater, Mo.; a sister, Pearl Cavender of Kansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Moriah-Freeman Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blanchard Chapel, with the Revs. Bobby Mouser and Encil Adams officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Mo.
