Southeast Missouri State University football coach Tim Billings did not go so far as to announce Andrew Goodenough as his starting quarterback for Saturday's Ohio Valley Conference game at Tennessee-Martin.

But Billings did say Wednesday that Goodenough will see significant action -- and not just at the end of the contest.

"One thing for sure is Andrew is going to play," Billings said. "Whether he starts or not, we don't know, but he's really had a good week of practice. We feel like he's a good talent, and we're going to get him on the field."

Billings expressed his displeasure with the play of starting quarterback Jack Tomco during Saturday's 27-24 home loss to Murray State. Tomco completed nine of 22 passes for 126 yards.

After the Indians (2-6, 2-2 OVC) fell behind, Billings replaced Tomco with Goodenough for the final two series.

Goodenough has seen limited action this year and completed 10 of 19 passes (52.6 percent) for 88 yards. Tomco has passed for 1,434 yards while completing 56.4 percent (114 of 202).

"Whenever Andrew has come in this year, we've been in trouble situations," Billings said. "We would like to get him in there in a normal situation and see what he can do."

Another quarterback, Jeromy McDowell, has missed several weeks because of a shoulder injury. He remains out for Tennessee-Martin (2-7, 1-4).
