Good news about the economy was bolstered last week as the government announced a drop in the unemployment rate to 6 percent, a trend that indicates America's employers are regaining confidence as this year's business expansion continues.

Not only were fewer jobs eliminated, but many new jobs were added, resulting in an overall expansion of 300,000 jobs over the past three months.

The improved employment figures along with other key indicators continue to indicate the U.S. economy is gaining strength. Many forecasters are beginning to talk confidently about their expectations that 2004 will be a good year.
