James E. Poley

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- James E. Poley, 80, of East Prairie, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

He was born July 2, 1927 in Mississippi County to the late Robert William and Jen Nettie Burnes Poley. He married Pearl Marie Hutson on April 4, 1953.

He had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he was employed in farming and was of Baptist belief.

Survivors include his wife, two sons James Alvin Poley of Paducah, Ky., and Earl Eugene Poley of East Prairie; four brothers, Floyd Poley of Anderson, S.C., Robert Poley of St. Louis, Delbert Poley of Bisco, Ark., and George Poley of Sikeston; four sisters, Beulah Everly of Benton, Mo., Tillie Hedge of East Prairie, Lola Hayden of Bellview, Mo., and Peggy Hardin of Sikeston; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo. The Rev. Bill Meeks will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
