First day for filing for Cape Girardeau City Council brings forward one candidate, while two incumbents whose terms expire next year say they are undecided whether to seek re-election; councilmen whose seats will be open are Howard C. Tooke and Samuel L. Gill; Donald R. Strohmeyer files for election shortly after city clerk's office opened this morning.

Missouri Utilities Co. and attorneys John L. Oliver Jr. and James F. Waltz are concluding purchase of H-H Building, where both have offices, from Montgomery Trust.

Exclusive of its purchases of furnishings, school board has paid $996,441.75 to contractors, architects and others for construction to date on new Central High School.

Elbert Masters, contractor, has started construction of gasoline service station for Sinclair Refining Co. on Kingshighway at location formerly occupied by the Palms.

City council has decided to purchase "stop" and "go" electrical signal lights at Broadway and Sprigg, which were erected two months ago and have given excellent service; purchase of traffic signals for other intersections is contemplated as money is available.
