'Cat in the Hat'

Starring Mike Myers, Kelly Preston, Spencer Breslin, Alec Baldwin, Dakota Fanning, and Sean Hayes. Based on Dr. Seuss' children's classic, the story features a little boy and girl, who have to sit around bored on a rainy day while their mother is out. The arrival of the Cat in a Hat and Thing One and Thing Two livens things up, until they proceed to trash the house. But just in the nick of time, the Cat cleans up his fun and tips his hat and runs. Will the kids confess about the Cat in the Hat who made a mess? Rated PG for mild crude humor and some double-entendres, running time 85 minutes. (Cape West Cine)

'Gothika'

Starring Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Charles S. Dutton, Robert Downey Jr., Bernard Hill, and Dorian Harewood. A respected criminal psychologist hears confessions from a satanic patient and later has an experience with a mysterious woman. This leads to nightmares, but her life really becomes horrific when she wakes up and discovers she's been locked in her own sanitarium for a murder that she can't remember committing. It turns out that the victim is, in fact, her husband, the hospital's administrator, and all the evidence points to her. While trying to figure out what's happened and separate fact from fiction, her colleague wonders whether she's finally gone crazy. 'Love Actually'

Starring Alan Rickman, Laura Linney, Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Martine McCutcheon, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Martin Freeman, Liam Neeson, and Rowan Atkinson. Set in modern-day London, the story interweaves 10 romantic love stories. The newly elected British prime minister, a bachelor, falls for a young tea girl on his first day in office. Other tales tell of a happily married woman who fears that her husband may leave her, a widowed father left to care for his only son, and a writer who escapes to the south of France to recover from a breakup, only to fall for someone else almost immediately. 'The Missing'

When one of them is kidnapped by a psychopath who has been murdering young teenage girls, Maggie must turn to her father, with whom she had a falling-out long ago, for help in tracking her down before it's too late.
