SIKESTON, Mo. -- Annie Bell Smith, 85, of Sikeston died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Select Special Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born Dec. 8, 1918, at Franklin, Ind., daughter of the late Abe and Annie Wheatley Elmore. She was married to George Smith Jr.

Smith had lived in Missouri for over 45 years. She was a private duty child-care provider before she retired and a member of the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston.

Survivors include two daughters, Goletha Longstreet of Sikeston and Dorothy Means of Milwaukee, Wis.; a sister, Willie Pearl Strickland of Columbia, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The Rev. L. J. Nabors will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston. William-Farr and Parnell is in charge of arrangements.
