Alumni part of panel discussion at forum

Three Southeast Missouri State University alumni will take part in a panel discussion today as part of the Executive Forum, a regular event for business students and the public. The panel, which begins at noon in the Glenn Auditorium of Dempster Hall, will feature Tina Klocke, a 1982 graduate and "chief financial bear" of Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc., Daniel C. Mohorc, a 1977 graduate and founder and president of Galactic Marketing Incentives Inc., and Thomas Hendrick, a 1968 Southeast graduate and executive vice president for acquisitions and development of Kor Group. The Executive Forum is part of the Harrison College of Business' efforts to bring experimental learning to Southeast, the university said in prepared statement. The public is invited to attend the panel discussion.

WIB holds kickoff event for $5 million program

Assistant secretary of labor Emily Stover-DeRocco will kick off a $5 million program by the Workforce Investment Board of Southeast Missouri at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center. The grant, under the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development, or WIRED, initiative, is designed to help a 14-county "Commerce Corridor" in Southeast Missouri transition from reliance on agriculture and old-line manufacturing to one that "embraces innovation in new markets," according to a prepared statement from the Workforce Investment Board. Business leaders, community organizers, government officials and educators are invited to attend the kickoff event.
