Two drug busts in as many days caused the Cape Girardeau police to seize more than $2,000 worth of illegal substances.

For Danny R. Bickings, 54, of 1742 Rampart St. it was the second bust in two months.

Police arrested Bickings and three others Monday afternoon in the 700 block of Penny Avenue following a sting operation, said police spokesman Sgt. Barry Hovis.

Adrew Jackson, 25, of Cape Girardeau, Julie T. Jamison, of McClure, Ill., Kenyatta D. Lane, of Cape Girardeau, were also arrested at the bust and charged with possession-related offenses. Bickings was charged with possession with intent to distribute.

On Aug. 21, Bickings was arrested during a drug bust at his residence and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police chief Carl Kinnison is one of five law enforcement officers living within a five-block area of the north-side neighborhood Bickings resides.

Kinnison knew the Bickings family but said Tuesday he hadn't seen or spoken to Bickings since he'd completed a drug rehablitiation program several weeks ago.

During Monday's bust, one officer had to use a Taser to gain control over one of the suspects, Hovis said.

The officers that made the bust called Hovis to come and make the actual arrest.

"There were more people to be arrested than there were officers," Hovis said.

During another drug search Tuesday morning, police served a warrant at 909 N. Missouri St., and recovered $1,500 worth of crack cocaine and about $500 worth of marijuana, said Hovis.
