Missouri guard accused of having sex with prisoner

WARRENTON, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri jail guard is accused of having sex with a prisoner.

The guard, 28-year-old Tara Hewkin of Warrenton, faces three felony counts of sexual contact with a prisoner by a jail employee. The incidents allegedly occurred at the Warren County jail.

A court document says Hewkin admitted having sex with the prisoner, David Latham, this month in the laundry room and at another location in the jail. She also allegedly allowed the prisoner to use her cell phone.

Latham is a federal inmate being held at the jail. He allegedly admitted to at least 10 sexual encounters with Hewkin over the last two weeks.
