Membership workshop planned for Saturday

The John Guild Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a membership workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center. This informational meeting includes a presentation on the organization, as well as several other topics. Individual guidance and assistance to those seeking membership will follow the presentation. Any woman 18 and older who can prove lineal descent from a participant in the effort for U.S. independence is eligible for membership. Crisis center to hold homelessness event

ANNA, Ill. -- The Bethany Village Family Crisis Resource center in Anna is working to secure sponsorships for the "Me and My Box" campaign, to be held Nov. 9 on the Bethany Village grounds near a transitional housing complex. Part of an awareness effort for National Homeless Awareness month, the event will include decorated cardboard box shelters which visitors can tour from 6 to 8 p.m. Tours of the Transitions Apartments Complex, the food pantry and the facilities are included. The presentation of Best Box awards is at 8 p.m. Call 618-833-1777 for more information.
