River Campus personnel are calling the first production in the Bedell Performance Hall, the musical "Big River," a big success.

The musical based on Mark Twain's "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" sold out three of its five performances -- shows on Friday and Saturday nights and a matinee performance Sunday afternoon.

Wednesday night's opener and a Thursday night show were at about 85 percent and 95 percent of capacity, said River Campus box office manager Ellen Farrow.

This week the Bedell will host the first two touring shows of its inaugural season -- the martial arts troupe The Shaolin Warriors on Wednesday and the dance production American Indian Dance Theatre on Saturday. Both of those shows are sold out, Farrow said.
