Jackson rallies in 2nd half, beats upset-minded Pirates

For a half at Jackson High School, the Indians' boys basketball team looked like it might be the victim of a big upset, trailing Perryville 34-23 at halftime.

But in the second half Jackson (16-3) held the Pirates to only 13 points en route to a 60-47 win. With the score tied at 43-43 after three periods, Jackson outscored Perryville 17-4 in the fourth quarter.

Jack Puisis led Jackson with 16 points, Nick Fiehler had 13 and Tyler McNeely had 12. Perryville (2-12) got 14 points from Scott Ozark and 13 from Andrew Norman.

The Braves routed Chaffee 107-35. Five players scored in double figures led by Chris Pullen's 23 points. Daniel Holman had 18 points, Andrew Pullen and Chris Monroe had 17 apiece and Josh Boley added 15.

In the other quarterfinal game, Delta routed Oran 69-28. Delta held the Eagles to eight second-half points. Brent Menz led the Bobcats with 24 points, Kevin Bartels had 18 and Cody Crowden had 10. Oran's Ryan Bouge had 10 points.

Delta will face top-seeded Scott City in the semifinals on Thursday, and Scott County Central will play Kelly. Kelly beat East Prairie on Monday 91-79 in overtime. Chris Romas led the Hawks with 24 points.
