The Meadow Heights boys basketball team bounced back from a season-opening loss to Leopold to beat Winona 87-81 in overtime Friday and then post its second win Saturday, beating East Carter 74-58.

"It felt good to win. We're starting to slowly get back in the swing of things," Meadow Heights coach Tom Brown said after the first victory.

Against Winona, the Panthers jumped to an 8-0 lead, then fell behind 22-15. They led 59-51 after three quarters, and the game was tied 76-76 after regulation. The Panthers scored eight consecutive points in the overtime as well.

Junior Tyler Welker poured in 25 points, including five of the team's nine 3-pointers. Tyler Wagner, recovering from a foot injury, reached double figures for the first time with 20 points, and Derrick Wilfong added 15 points.

Against East Carter, the Panthers were lead by Wagner who netted 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to record his second consecutive double-double. He was one of three Panthers players who reached double figures in scoring.

Seven Meadow Heights players have posted double figures through the first three games.

The Panthers are now 2-1.
